Benefits of Private Tours from North-East

One of the best things about private tours from the Northeast is that they can be made to fit your needs. Unlike group tours, private tours are made to fit your hobbies and preferences. This makes sure that your trip through Iceland is just what you want it to be.

Private tours give you more freedom to plan your trip’s schedule, allowing you to spend more time at the locations that interest you the most.

Personalized Attention

Private tours give you one-on-one care from knowledgeable guides who love Iceland and want to share it with you. They can make the tour fit your interests and make sure you go to the places that really interest you.

Whether you want to see a specific sight or learn more about a certain part of Icelandic culture, your private guide will make sure you get what you want, giving you a more personal and important experience.

Flexibility in Itinerary Planning

Private tours give you more flexibility over your plan than group tours, which have set itineraries. You can talk to your guide about what you want and then work with him or her to make a personalized plan that fits your pace and hobbies.

Want to spend more time discovering a secret gem or stay longer in a certain place? With a private tour, you can make these changes and really get to know the places that mean the most to you.

Expertise in Local Guides

The wealth of information and expertise that local guides bring to private tours is one of the best things about them. They know a lot about the history, culture, and natural wonders of the area.

Their thoughts and stories will make your trip more interesting and help you feel more connected to the places you visit. Your guide will give you a full picture of North-East Iceland by telling you about local tales and letting you in on the best-kept secrets.

Flexibility with Group Size

Private tours are great for people going alone, as a couple, with their families, or in small groups. These tours can suit your particular group, allowing for a more intimate and personalized experience, as opposed to group tours, which may have set group sizes.

Private tours can meet your needs and make sure that everyone’s tastes are considered, whether you want to explore Iceland by yourself or with your loved ones.

Enhanced Safety and Comfort

Private tours add an extra layer of ease and safety. Your expert guide will know all about the terrain, the weather, and safety rules in the area.

They will make sure that your trip goes smoothly and safely, keeping you updated and keeping you safe the whole time. Also, private tours often offer easy ways to get around, so you can sit back and enjoy the scenery while your guide takes care of the details.

Exploring North-East Iceland

 private tours from the Northeast

North-East Iceland has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Some of the most amazing places in Iceland are in this part of the country. Imagine standing in front of Europe’s most powerful waterfall, the Dettifoss, as it roars down into a rough canyon. The sheer power and beauty of this show will leave you gasping for air.

Volcanos

But waterfalls aren’t the only thing in North-East Iceland. The area around Mvatn is full of bubbling mud pools, steaming fumaroles, and beautiful volcanic rocks. You will feel like you’re on another planet as you walk through this strange scenery.

Don’t pass up the chance to unwind in the soothing waters of the Mvatn Nature Baths, where you can soak in geothermal hot springs surrounded by beautiful scenery.

Horse Riding

One of the best-kept secrets in North-East Iceland is sbyrgi Canyon, a horseshoe-shaped gorge that stories say was made by the Norse eight-legged horse Sleipnir. Walk along the paths that wind through the green, forested cliffs and be amazed by how big and quiet this natural wonder is.

Vatnajokull National Park

In North-East Iceland, the Vatnajokull National Park has a large glacier that people can visit to get a taste of Iceland’s wild nature. Join a glacier walk and put on your crampons to see beautiful ice formations, deep crevasses, and mesmerizing blue ice caves.

When you stand on the glacier’s surface, you will be awed by the power and beauty of nature and feel a feeling of wonder and awe.

Birds Watching

North-East Iceland has a lot of birds, too. Some seabirds, like puffins, guillemots, and kittiwakes, nest on the rocky rocks along the coast.

Take a boat tour from Hsavk, which is known as the “Whale Watching Capital of Iceland,” and see these beautiful animals breaching the water’s surface. This will be a memory you’ll keep for the rest of your life.

Golden Circle

North-East Iceland is different from other parts of the country because of how quiet and beautiful it is. Compared to famous places like the Golden Circle, this area doesn’t get as many tourists. So you can really enjoy the peaceful scenery without a lot of people around.

Here, you can connect with nature on a deeper level. Find peace and comfort in the vast stretches of unspoiled forest.

Private tours through North East Iceland allow you to explore the region’s natural wonders. From the raw power of waterfalls to the mysterious appeal of geothermal sites.

This region’s breathtaking beauty and untouched scenery will leave an indelible mark on your heart and remind you of how amazing our world is.

FAQs

Our guide to paddler ratio is 1:10 and we provide an accompanying safety Zodiac. There are 26 places available in Antarctica and tropical voyages, 20 in temperate regions, South Georgia and all Arctic trips except in Franz Josef Land where the maximum is 16 kayakers.

Kayakers must be 14 or over.

Sea kayaking is offered in place of regular shore excursions. We aim to paddle as often as possible. Depending on the voyage, we generally aim to paddle twice per day.

We will give you a drybag for extra clothing, binoculars and anything that needs to be kept dry. You should also carry a water bottle. We recommend bringing a waterproof camera or phone, or ensuring you have a good quality waterproof case.

If the weather changes during our outing we will head back to the ship and perhaps join a shore excursion. The ship’s captain, expedition leader and kayak guide always maintain close contact to ensure a safe paddling experience. We do not attempt to paddle too far away from the ship. The emphasis is on experiencing the destination rather than travelling long distances.

The kayaks are made with a hard plastic and are easily paddled in swell and conducting shore landings, and through small patches of brash ice. We manoeuvre around the larger ice chunks and floes.

Polar regions

Kayaking in the poles offers a unique wildlife viewing experience. In Antarctica, we have many opportunities to encounter penguins, seals and whales, and occasionally we may even spot leopard seals or orcas. In the Arctic, we’ll paddle under nesting bird colonies, past massive glaciers and around large icebergs, however we maintain a safe distance from polar bears and walruses. Our guides carry rifles and flare guns in the Arctic to ensure your safety against polar bears.

Temperate regions

Kayakers in wild temperate regions will have a unique wildlife experience, with possible encounters with seals and basking sharks. You will have the opportunity to view some of the largest sea bird colonies in the northern hemisphere.

Tropical regions

The superb wildlife-viewing opportunities are endless in the astonishingly biodiverse nature reserves we visit. Kayaks offer a unique opportunity to view marine and land mammals, coral reefs, tropical fish, sea birds and an astonishing range of rainforest birds. We will bring our snorkelling gear with us during our paddles and take advantage of any opportunities to view marine life up close.

In the unlikely event of a capsize, your experienced guide will assist by righting the kayak, stabilising it then pumping it out. Paddlers will re-enter with the guide’s help, or with a support Zodiac. With drysuits and warm clothing underneath you will be comfortable in cold water for up to half an hour. Note that the kayaks have separate compartments with bulkheads, which means they will float after a capsize.

No. Each kayaking place is for one person only. Passengers are unable to share a kayaking place as we customise the kayaks and dry suits for each individual kayaker at the beginning of each voyage.
