Stuðlagil Canyon-Detailed Tour Guide
Studlaberg has a unique name. In the Iceland language, it means basalt column. The word Gil means ravine or gorge. Hence the word means Stuðlagil. On the whole, it means basalt gorge.
How did it form?
Are you interested in knowing the history of this famous site? Before June 2016, no one except the people of Iceland knew about Stuðlagil. It was just a site for them until it came into the sight of tourists and gained fame. The gorge was completely submerged by the glacial waters. However, in 2007- 2008 the water shifted in the Fljótsdalur Power Station, and the place came into the sight of the whole world.
Where is it located?
Stuðlagilis a place present on the east side of Ice Land. It is around 36 kilometers or 22 miles away from Möðrudalur. If seen from the nearby town, Egilsstaðir, the place is around 70 kilometers (43 miles) away. If you travel from Myvatn to Stuðlagilis, you will have to cover a distance of 140 kilometers (87 miles) and 600 kilometers (372 miles) from Reykjavík.

Places to See on Stuðlagil Canyon Tour
There are many sites in Stuolagil Canyon. You can enjoy a lot of beautiful sceneries of Studlafoss Waterfall. Here there ate many ponds of multiple shades and the close by farms along with some lush greens.
Studlafoss Waterfall
Stuðlafoss Waterfall is a sparkling waterfall in South Iceland. River Fossá is the main source of water in the fall. The waterfall drops to a whopping 30 meters (100 feet).
On the base of the waterfall, you will find a turquoise pool where you can relax and enjoy the serene nature of this waterfall. On the sides of the waterfall, you can see the rugged view of rocks which are covered all around with lush green vegetation.
