3. Booking & Reservations
- Bookings can be made online via our booking/inquiry forms, by email, or by phone.
- A deposit from 10% of the total tour price is required to confirm most bookings; the balance is due as specified at checkout or in your booking confirmation.
- Full payment may be required at time of booking for select tours, last-minute bookings, or promotional/discounted rates.
- A booking is only confirmed once you receive written confirmation (email) from Tourism Iceland.
- It is the customer's responsibility to check all trip details — dates, pickup location, traveler names, and special requirements — before final confirmation.
- Prices are quoted in ISK (or the currency shown at checkout) and are subject to change until a booking is confirmed.

- Tourism Iceland reserves the right to cancel any tour that was mistakenly opened for booking, with a full refund issued.
5. Traveler Responsibilities
By booking with us, you agree to:
- Arrive at the designated pickup point on time (late arrivals may forfeit the tour without refund, per Section 4).
- Meet any minimum age, fitness, or health requirements stated for adventure activities (e.g., glacier hiking, ice caving, snorkeling, snowmobiling).
- Disclose any relevant medical conditions, mobility limitations, or allergies before physically demanding tours, so our guides can plan safely.
- Follow all safety instructions given by guides, drivers, and activity operators at all times.
- Behave respectfully toward guides, staff, and fellow travelers.
The Icelandic Pledge
All travelers are asked to follow responsible-tourism practices while on tour: stay on marked roads, avoid off-road driving, park and camp only in designated areas, preserve the natural environment, and take photographs safely without risking personal harm.
6. Health, Safety & Fitness Requirements
Certain adventure activities (glacier hikes, ice cave tours, snowmobiling, Silfra snorkeling, volcano hikes) involve inherent physical risk and may require a minimum fitness level, minimum age, or swimming ability. Tourism Iceland and its local operators reserve the right to refuse participation to any traveler who does not meet the stated safety requirements for a given activity, without full refund, where the requirement was disclosed at time of booking.
7. Liability & Force Majeure
- Tourism Iceland acts as an agent and operator coordinating tours, transport, and accommodation, and takes all reasonable care in selecting licensed, reputable local partners.
- We are not liable for delays, changes, or cancellations caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, volcanic activity, road closures, flight disruptions, or other force majeure events. In such cases, we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule, offer alternatives, or issue refunds as outlined in Section 4.
- Tourism Iceland is not responsible for losses, injuries, or damages arising from a traveler's failure to follow safety instructions, disclosed health/fitness requirements, or the Icelandic Pledge.
- Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be excluded under Icelandic consumer protection law.
8. Third-Party Services
Some tours, transfers, or activities are delivered by independent local operators, hotels, or guides within our partner network. While Tourism Iceland vets and coordinates these partners, their own operating terms, safety rules, and conditions may also apply and will be communicated at time of booking where relevant.
9. Website Use & Intellectual Property
All content on tourismiceland.is — including text, images, logos, and tour descriptions — is the property of Tourism Iceland / Shani ehf. or its licensors and may not be copied, reproduced, or used commercially without written permission.
10. Privacy
Your personal data is collected and processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms by reference.
11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Iceland. Any disputes arising from a booking or use of our website shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Iceland, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have in your country of residence.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms periodically to reflect changes in our services, pricing, or legal requirements. The "Last Updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of our website or services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
