Þingvellir National Park
Your tour begins with pickup in Reykjavik, followed by a scenic drive to Þingvellir National Park, one of Iceland’s most historically significant sites. Founded in AD 930, this is where Iceland’s first parliament was established. The park also sits between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, creating a dramatic rift valley with unique geological formations, waterfalls like Öxarárfoss, and the famous Almannagjá gorge.
Geysir Geothermal Area
Next, visit the Geysir Geothermal Area in the Haukadalur Valley. This geothermal hotspot is home to steaming vents, bubbling mud pools, and the highly active Strokkur geyser, which erupts every few minutes, shooting boiling water up to 30 meters into the air.
Gullfoss Waterfall
Continue to the powerful Gullfoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most famous natural attractions. Fed by meltwater from the Langjökull Glacier, Gullfoss cascades dramatically over two tiers into a deep canyon, offering spectacular viewpoints and photo opportunities.
Seljalandsfoss Waterfall
As you head along the South Coast, stop at Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most unique waterfalls. With a drop of nearly 66 meters, this waterfall allows visitors to walk behind the cascading water for a truly immersive experience.
Skógafoss Waterfall
Next, visit the impressive Skógafoss Waterfall, one of the largest and most powerful waterfalls in Iceland. With a width of 25 meters and a drop of 60 meters, Skógafoss often creates rainbows on sunny days. Visitors can climb the stairs beside the waterfall for panoramic views from above.
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach
Explore the world-famous Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, known for its striking basalt columns, dramatic cliffs, and roaring Atlantic waves. The contrast between the black volcanic sand and white sea foam creates one of Iceland’s most iconic coastal landscapes.
Vík í Mýrdal Village
Your final stop is the charming village of Vík í Mýrdal, Iceland’s southernmost village. Surrounded by cliffs, black sand beaches, and sweeping ocean views, Vík offers a perfect place to relax, take photos, and explore local culture. Don’t miss views of Reynisdrangar sea stacks and Vík i Myrdal Church overlooking the village.
