Adventure will start by arriving at the hotel around 2pm. Relax for some time and then in the evening we will head to the Old Harbor for a boat tour in Reykjavik and to chase the Northern Lights. Our guides will check all the weather forecasts and find the perfect spot to get the best viewing spot. We will sail away from the city lights and enjoy panoramic views of the Aurora Borealis. While waiting, you can set your camera settings to capture the view with the guidance of our tour guide, enjoy the onboard café and bar, and stay warm. After the Northern lights show, we will return to the harbor and head back to your hotel for a restful night.
On the next day be ready for some adventurous tour as we are going to explore the Iceland’s Golden Circle:
- Thingvellir National Park
- Geysir Geothermal Area
- Gullfoss Waterfall
Our journey will continue towards the South Coast, you can enjoy the views while passing through the majestic Mount Hekla. After that, we will visit the Seljalandsfoss, a unique waterfall where you can walk behind the flowing water to get the breathtaking views. In the evening, we will stay at a cozy hotel near Kirkjubæjarklaustur. At this location, there is minimal light pollution that offers an excellent chance to see the Northern Lights if the weather permits. With clear skies, you may enjoy the enthralling dance of the dawn lighting up the night sky.
Next morning you can start your day with delicious breakfast at the hotel before we leave in the east, directing through diverse landscapes, starting from lava fields to desert sands. On this journey, you can simply enjoy views of majestic glaciers, including Vatnajökull, which is the largest glacier in Iceland. Our first stop is Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where you can enjoy viewing floating icebergs. Many icebergs actually drifted apart to form Diamond Beach. All these icebergs contrast beautifully with the black sand to create a mesmerizing view. You can also look out for the seals sprawling on the shore. Next, we will travel to Skaftafell for an adventurous experience. In winter, we will explore a natural ice cave present in Vatnajökull Glacier along with a certified glacier guide. But in the summer, we will visit the Katla Ice Cave near Vik. At night, we will return to Kirkjubæjarklaustur. Before going to bed, you can join us for another exciting chase of the Northern Lights. With the snowy peaks and glaciers as a backdrop, you will be treated with a stunning aurora display.
The fourth day is meant to explore the stunning South Coast and its highlights. If the weather permits, then we will make a brief stop at Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon, also known as “Bieber’s Canyon.” After that, we will visit the Eldhraun lava field, your experienced guide will explain its captivating features. Then, we will head towards Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, known for its dramatic beauty, with the impressive Reynisdrangar basalt sea stacks rising from the Atlantic Ocean. Then we will head towards Skógafoss waterfall that cascades from almost 60 meters. It provides a panoramic view, if you climb 527 steps to the top. On a clear day, you might even spot the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in the distance. In the evening, we will travel back to Reykjavik, with a chance to catch the Northern Lights.
On the fifth day, we will allow you a free day to discover Reykjavik. You can spend the day plunging yourself in the vibrant culture of the city. You can visit Reykjavik’s local boutiques, museums or cosy coffee shops. Some museums also offer a unique experience of the Northern Lights, allowing you to enjoy the dawn right in the city center. People who are enthusiasts about outdoor adventure can opt to take a leisurely walk along the old harbor or the scenic Atlantic shoreline. If you seek relaxation, don’t forget to bring your swimsuit! There are so many spas and swimming pools in Reykjavik allowing you to unwind and enjoy the Icelandic ambiance. Cancellation and Amendment Policies:
- More than 14 days before trip departure: 100% refund of the total tour price.
- Less than 14 days before trip departure: 50% refund of the total tour price. The remaining 50% is non-refundable to cover direct costs incurred.
- Less than 48 hours before trip departure: No refund. All costs such as guides and transport will be charged to Tourism Iceland.
Extras and rental of gear booked as part of a multi-day tour are subject to the same terms as outlined above.
