Departure from Reykjavik

The Northern Lights Bus Tour begins in Reykjavik, either from your selected pickup point or the designated meeting location. Once all guests are onboard, we leave the city lights behind and head into the dark countryside.

Northern Lights Hunting

There is no fixed route for this tour. Our guides carefully analyse weather forecasts, cloud cover, and aurora activity to determine the best viewing locations each night. The drive usually takes up to 90 minutes from Reykjavik.

Aurora Viewing Experience

Once we reach a suitable location, you’ll have time to step outside, stretch your legs, and wait for the Northern Lights to appear. Your guide will explain how the aurora forms and help you with camera settings to capture the moment.

Hot Chocolate Break

While waiting, enjoy complimentary hot chocolate to stay warm and comfortable in Iceland’s winter night.

Return to Reykjavik

After an unforgettable evening under the Arctic sky, we return to Reykjavik and drop you off at the same location where the tour began.

The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and cannot be guaranteed. If you do not see the aurora during your tour, you can rejoin the tour free of charge on another available night (subject to availability). Your guide will provide full details.

    • Dress warmly; waiting outdoors is required
    • Tour may be cancelled due to severe weather or unsafe conditions

     

      Cancellation Policy

      • You can make cancellations for all types of Day Tours via email.
      • Cancellation should be done at least 24 hours before the departure, and you will get a full-payment refund.
      • Cancellations that are made less than 24 hours before the planned departure time will not be refunded.
      • If the tour gets cancelled due to severe weather, hazardous driving routes, or any other similar situation, then we will offer you to book alternate activities or reschedule your tour at different dates or else you will get a full refund.
