Information about Silfra
The Earth’s surface is composed of tectonic plates, with Iceland located between the North American and Eurasian plates. Silfra Fissure, located underwater, provides a unique opportunity to witness the gradual separation of these plates. The crystal-clear waters in this region are considered among the purest in the world, originating from the Langjökull glacier’s melted ice.
Experience a one-of-a-kind adventure, snorkeling in the middle of two tectonic plates, with us at Silfra – the only place on Earth where this is possible. During the tour, you’ll be swimming along the plates, and your guide will share GoPro photos with you afterward.
About the tour

Tour Plan
IS SNORKELING IN SILFRA DIFFICULT
Snorkeling in Silfra is a gentle and effortless experience – you won’t need significant strength. The melting glacier water creates a mild current that will guide you along during the first part of the tour, allowing you to enjoy the mystical underwater environment in complete relaxation.
However, it is essential to have basic swimming skills and conquer any fear of water beforehand.
WILL I FEEL COLD WHILE SNORKELING IN SILFRA
Dry suits keep most people warm while snorkeling, and they usually do not feel cold while in the water. However, it is important to note that air temperatures during winter are typically colder than the water, which can cause a chill when exiting the water.
Good to know
Before the tour, it is mandatory for participants to read and sign this Snorkeling Medical Statement. It is recommended to bring a printed and signed copy of the form. If necessary, the form can also be signed at the meeting location.
