Tour Plan
Berserkjahraun Lava Fields
Berserkjahraun, a captivating lava field that is more than 4,000 years old and covered in moss, is where we spend the first part of the day. A volcanic outburst from the adjacent Bjarnarhafnafjall mountain created this spectacular panorama, demonstrating the enormous force and influence of volcanoes on Iceland’s rough topography.
Berserkjahraun, which translates to “the lava field of the frenzied warriors,” refers to the tremendous rage that must have exploded here in the distant past, evoking the famous berserk warriors.
Mount Kirkjufell
The beautiful Mount Kirkjufell, sometimes known as the “church mountain,” rises 463 metres above a fishing community of Grunarfjörur. It is one of the most photographed mountains in Iceland because of its recognizable arrowhead shape, which has captured the attention of countless amateur and professional photographers.
Anyone who wants to take the ideal photo should visit Kirkjufell. It’s the perfect spot to see the entrancing Northern Lights dance in the sky and produce an amazing visual show. Following its appearance in the popular television series “Game of Thrones” as the Arrowhead mountain, Mount Kirkjufell’s popularity increased.
Kirkjufellsfoss Waterfalls
This gorgeous picture shows a famous perspective of Kirkjufell mountain, showcasing the size of the rising mountain in the distance with the glorious waterfall in the middle of it. The adjacent Snaefellsjökull glacier, which feeds the three-pronged waterfall, contributes to its magical beauty.
The visitors can walk around the region, where they may enjoy the breathtaking views of the falls and Mount Kirkjufell from all directions. It’s a unique experience that displays Iceland’s amazing natural majesty.
Snaefellsnesjökull National Park
The Snaefellsnesjökull National Park is a wild region that surrounds the Snfellsjökull glacier. This subglacial volcano has been dormant for about 2000 years and probably over 700,000 years old. On a clear day, you can see it from Reykjavik, but our guests have an even more amazing view. It’s the same type of volcano that erupted in 2010 and caused international devastation.
Djúpalónssandur Beach
One of Iceland’s most well-known black sand beaches is Djpalónssandur. Every angle of the beach’s surrounding rocks and rock formations provides incredible views. Four lifting stones, used to gauge a fisherman’s strength, are also located on the beach. The tiniest stone weighs 23 kg, while the biggest stone, weighing 154 kg, is the ultimate strength test for local fishermen.
Lóndrangar Basalt Cliffs
Two enormous basalt rock formations, measuring 75 and 61 metres in height, make up Lóndrangur. They are the remains of a former crater that the sea has eroded. These magnificent structures provide panoramic vistas and are used by several bird species as nesting areas.
Arnarstapi
Our excursion comes to an end in the small village of Arnarstapi, which resides hidden away between the sea and the mountains. It was formerly a thriving fishing and trading port, and today it is a well-liked tourist spot with breathtaking views of the cliffs and seabird nests. Take in the history and aura of this charming community, and don’t forget to take a shot at Eystrigjá, the famous photo location at Arnarstapi Bridge.
Búðir Black Church
Despite being known for its stunning beauty, the Budir black church is truly unique due to its breathtaking natural surroundings. The present building was first erected nearly three centuries ago, in 1848. We take a quick detour to this popular spot with photographers to capture its distinct attractiveness.
Ytri Tunga Beach Seals
Our final visit in Snaefellsnes is Ytri Tunga, a golden beach that initially may not seem noteworthy. However, it’s a well-liked location to see harbour seals lazing on the rocks offshore. Hopefully you’ll catch a glimpse of these cute animals. We start returning to the city after this stop, and we sincerely hope that you have developed lifelong memories of this less well-known region of Iceland.
